Do you know someone who could use Meals on Wheels?

As the cold and snowy winter season approaches we are concerned about the many homebound neighbors in Northeast Minneapolis who could use our services but may not be aware that our program exists. Northeast Dinner Bell Meals on Wheels Program has been serving meals to homebound people in our community for close to 37 years. Our volunteers deliver hot, nutritious lunches each weekday. Our client surveys give testimony that many of our meal recipients regard our services as a vital link to their community.

We are asking for community help in locating the people who probably need us the most. Visit your neighbor and find out if they are eating nutritious meals regularly. Tell them that our Meals on Wheels Program exists for the sole purpose of providing them with their nutritional needs with an added benefit of a daily visit from a friendly and dedicated crew of volunteers. Please help your neighbors to help themselves.

Our meal delivery may be the only human contact the homebound will have on that particular day. Meals are available to elderly or disabled people at any income level who are isolated and unable to prepare their own meals consistently. We ask for a donation of $4.25 per meal. Recipients are encouraged to contribute but in many cases financial assistance is available. It just takes a phone call (612-789-6548) to initiate meal service.

This service to the homebound would not be possible without our wonderful volunteers. Their generous volunteerism is the backbone of our entire program. Northeast Dinner Bell could not survive without each of them and their sincere volunteer dedication.
