A Brown Tale
What: Directed by Lou Bellamy, James T. Alfred’s critically acclaimed one-man show, "A Brown Tale," begins Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway Ave., with a gala opening night celebration. A Brown Tale is a hilarious coming of age narrative of a African-American male growing up on Chicago’s South Side Side. The play explores community, family and faith, and the impact of these intersections on human development.

The opening night performance on Saturday, Sept. 6, is set for 8 p.m. It will be preceded by a 6 p.m. reception for VIP ticket holders and a 7 p.m. Q & A with James T. Alfred. VIP tickets are priced at $65 and include an autographed poster and advance seating for the performance. The post show party is open to all ticket holders. Following the opening night celebration, each week’s performances of "A Brown Tale,"are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are priced at $32 for adults, $28 for seniors (62+) and $20 for students (with ID), and can be ordered online at, or by calling TicketWorks at 612-343-3390.
