English classes for adult refugees, immigrants and asylees

What: The International Institute of Minnesota, 1694 Como Ave. SE, St. Paul, offers free classes teaching Literacy, Beginning and Intermediate levels of English to adult refugees, immigrants and asylees. Students learn English grammar, speaking, reading, writing and listening skills in addition to work and practical life skills. Classes use community resources to build academic skills and include basic computer, numeracy and work readiness training and Classes meet all MFIP requirements although students do not need to be receiving MFIP to attend class. Classes will be held Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., on an ongoing, open-enrollment basis throughout the year. To enroll, new students must take a placement test. Testing is held Tuesdays and Thursdays 1-3 p.m. (No appointment necessary.) For more information, call 651-647-0191 ext. 300, or visit www.iimn.org.
