K-12 Homework Help, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., starting Sept. 3. Free in-person tutoring for K-12 students. No advance sign-up needed. Funded by the Friends of the Hennepin County Library.

Paws to Read With an Animal, Saturdays, Sept. 6, Oct. 11, and Nov. 1, 1:30-3 p.m. Register online or call 612-543-6775. K-grade 4. Volunteers will help put young readers at ease so they can cuddle up with a certified therapy animal and practice reading aloud. Most libraries host dogs and you can call ahead to see if other animals will be visiting.

Library Lab for Kids: Chemistry, Saturday, Sept. 13, 1:30-3:30 p.m. K-grade 6. Learn about the wonders and excitement of chemistry with easy-to-do activities led by this volunteer group of chemistry students, teachers and professionals eager to share the science with all ages.

Family Code Day, Saturday, Oct. 4, 2-3 p.m. Registration required, begins Sep 6. Grade 3 and up with a caregiver. Learn computer coding together. An IT specialist will introduce basic computer programming concepts. Learn about websites so you can continue learning code. Computers provided and you can bring your own laptop with Wi-Fi from home. Sponsored by MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency).

Paint It Green: Build Small, Saturday, Oct. 4, 2-3:30 p.m. K-grade 6. Imagine if the world’s tallest building were 3 inches high. What would that mean about the size of your family, friends and animals? Create your world in miniature using self-drying clay, paint and other materials. Materials provided. LEGO Club, Thursdays, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, 3:30-4:30 p.m. This after school LEGO building club is for kids in grades K-8 who love all things LEGO. The library will provide the LEGO bricks, you bring the imagination. Registration not required.

Yu-Gi-Oh, Saturday, Sept. 27, noon-2 p.m. For kids in grades 3-12. Bring your own deck. Players of all levels welcome. Registration not required.
