Learn Together: A Sense of Science, Saturday, July 12, 10:30-11 a.m. Registration required. For kids entering K-grade 2. Explore your five senses with fun games and hands-on experiments. Presented in collaboration with Bakken Museum; Sponsored by the Friends of the Hennepin County Library and MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency).

Art Out of the Box: Eye Wonder, Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2-3 p.m. Registration required. For kids entering grades 2-5. Discover artists’ secrets and uncover illusions meant to trick the eye by looking closely at art from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Museum-trained teens will help you make art to hide your own secret messages. Materials provided. Presented in partnership with Minneapolis Institute of Arts; Sponsored by the Friends of the Hennepin County Library.

Learn Together: Dream Collage, Monday, July 21, 2-4 p.m. Registration required. For kids entering grades 1-3. Create a colorful collage inspired by your dreams and Elly MacKay’s book, "If You Hold a Seed." Materials provided. Presented in collaboration with Minnetonka Center for the Arts; Sponsored by the Friends of the Hennepin County Library and MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency).

Kids Book Club, Monday, July 28, 3-4:30 p.m. Registration required. For kids entering grades 4-6. Join other kids to talk about a great book. Lending copies may be picked up at the information desk prior to meeting.

Act Out for Kids: Storymaking, Tuesday, July 15, 2-3:30 p.m. Registration required. For kids entering grades 1-2. Explore countless ways to create a story. Using fairy tales and simple acting games, you will be led by an experienced Guthrie teaching artist to create your own tales inspired by the twists and turns of your imagination. This project is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Presented in collaboration with Guthrie Theater.

Kids Jr. Book Club, Wednesday, July 16, 3 p.m. Registration required. For kids entering grades 2-3. Discuss "The Trouble with Chickens," by Doreen Cronin.

Library Lab for Kids: Kaleidoscopes, Tuesday, July 22, 2-2:45 p.m. Registration required. For kids entering grades 1-6. Build a unique and colorful kaleidoscope to take home. Have fun exploring reflection and symmetry with bendable mirrors. Materials provided. Presented in collaboration with The Works; Sponsored by the Friends of the Hennepin County Library and MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency).

Guys Read Kids Book Club, Wednesday, Aug. 13, 3 p.m. Registration required, begins Jul 16. For guys entering grades 4-6. Discuss "Frindle," by Andrew Clements.

Mo Willems Book Day, Monday, July 21, 2 p.m. Should Pigeon be allowed to drive? Celebrate Mo Willems Book Day with crafts, books and continuous readings of his book by Library Teen Volunteers.

Josefina’s American Girl Tea Party, Wednesday, July 30, 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Dress up and bring your American Girl doll (or any favorite doll) to celebrate American Girl Josefina Montoya. Includes tea, cake, and crafts. Registration required.
