The MN Sinfonia will present two concerts this summer at North Commons Park, 1801 James Ave. N. On Friday, July 25, 10 a.m., the group presents its Northside Children’s Concert.

On Saturday, July 26, the group will perform at the Northside Music and Arts Festival. The family event starts at 3 p.m. with music including local talent at 3 p.m. and the Sounds of Blackness at 4 p.m., leading up to the MN Sinfonia concert at 5:30 p.m., featuring Northside children from Lundstrum Center for the Arts performing The Nightingale. There will also be a Zumba clinic, a drum clinic, health screenings, and various art activities.

Act Out for Kids: Creative Movement

Kids entering grades 1-2 can learn how to walk like a bear, creep like a tiger or be like a tiny fly, Tuesday, July 29, 2-3:30 p.m. at the Webber Park Community Building, 4400 Dupont Ave. N. An experienced Guthrie teaching artist will show fun and creative ways to use imaginative movement. Registration required, begins July 1. Register online at www.hclib.org, or call 612-543-6750. This project is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Presented in collaboration with Guthrie Theater.

North Regional LibraryLibrary Friends Groups throughout Hennepin County host book sales to raise funds for their local library. North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry Ave. N., will have a sale Saturday, Aug. 2, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 3, noon-4 p.m. featuring hundreds of adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction books in hardcover and paperback. Most books are priced at $2 or less.

Minneapolis Public Schools offers a summer food service program which provides meals to all children ages 1-18 without charge, at select school and community sites. The program runs through Friday, Aug. 15 (unless noted); no food service July 4.
