Pop! at 29th Avenue and Johnson Street NE is closed; owners Leslie and Clark Knutson say a sale is pending. Pop!’s St. Paul location is also closed, and they say they are hoping to re-open there. Here’s a link to the Pioneer Press article.

School board candidates discuss education issues

There are nine candidates running for two at-large seats on the Minneapolis School Board this year: James Everett, Rebecca Gagnon, Steven Lasley, Richard Mammen, Doug Mann, Mohamud Noor, Chanda Smith Baker, R.E. (Dick) Velner, and T. Williams.

Candidate Shirlynn LaChappelle said she is dropping out of the race.

Former board member Pamela Costain recently left the board before her term was up; the board appointed past board member Peggy Flanagan to serve out Costain’s term. Chris Stewart and Tom Madden, both elected four years ago with Costain and T. Williams, chose not to run for second terms. Williams is the lone incumbent running for re-election..........

For 80 years, the iconic Dorothy Lundstrum taught those things to hundreds of Northside youngsters. Co-founder (with her sisters Lorraine and Marion) of a school in Ascension Church’s clubhouse in the 1920s, Dorothy—who started work at age 15—ran the enterprise......
